Shields VS Hammer; Claressa Shields wins over Christina Hammer to become the undisputed middleweight champion

Claressa Shields managed to gain a points win over her opponent Christian Hammer in the women’s middleweight championship title bout that was held in Atlantic City.

The unbeaten Claressa Shields prior to the fight had held the titles of WBC, IBF, and WBA and now with this win, she added the final WBO title as she won the fight by unanimous points decision of 98-82 from all 3 judges. The fight was held in Atlantic City at the Boardwalk Hall.

Shields started off the fight with an aggressive stance as she easily countered Hammer’s long reach and delivered big rights to her opponent in the opening round. The German fighter was again troubled by American’s combination in the 2nd round.

Hammer was forced only to defend and could offer little in response to her opponent’s barrage when a strong right hand in the 4th swayed her. Hammer then again was swayed in the 6th as occasional punches and jabs broke her defense.

With the fight slowly being slipping away, Hammer fought back in the 7th round and hurt Shields little. The 8th then again saw Shields continuing with her flurry of punches.

Hammer continued the 9th round with being cautious and staying on the back foot and delivering some punches. However, the bell to the final round sounded the victory of Shields.
