Simone Biles has become the world’s most decorative gymnast following her winning 2 more gold medals at the World Championship in Stuttgart on Sunday.
22 years old Biles won her career’s 24th Gold medal on Beam as she broke the record set previously by the male Belarusian gymnast named Vitaly Scherbo after winning her 25th medal in the floor exercise only 2 hours later of her previous won. She has now won 18 gold medals in total in her record-breaking attempt.
Simone Biles said of her amazing world record, “I cannot be more thrilled than I am right now with the performance that I have put out on display at the World Championships. As for the medal record, I am not a number person.”
Biles finished on beam with 15.066 points following a flawless routine. She opted for the simpler dismount on the beam rather than the double-double she had earlier performed in the event.
O the beam, silver and bronze medals were won by China’s Liu Tingting and Li Shijia with scores of 14.433 and 14.3 points.
As for floor exercise performance, Biles won that with a full score of 15.122 despite having a step placed out of bounds on her one pass. The silver medal was won by Biles’ teammate Sunisa Lee which is her 3rd medal at the World Championships where the bronze medal was won by Russia’s Angelina Melnikova.
As for the final and the winning performance of Biles, it came late following a request of inquiry by Flavia Saraiva into her score that resulted in Biles sitting on the floor edge.
Simone Biles has now won 5 events at this World Championships following her winning the Team gold and the all-around individual gold along with the vault gold.
Simone Biles is yet to confirm her plans to compete in the gymnastics after the Olympics next year so this might be her last run at the world championships.
Out of the 24 career world medals, she has won 18 gold, which is 6 more than Scherbo 12 gold medals of his previous 23 medal record.
