The eventful start of the Singapore GP’s Practice One set a pace for the Max Verstappen of the Red bull while Valtteri Bottas suffered misfortune for Mercedes as he crashed.
Bottas, as he was entering the Turn 19 midsession, had his car went out of control and struck the street circuit barrier causing a significant amount of damage to the left and the fornt of his car.
Finn, who is second to Hamilton in the World Championship, missed the remaining of the opening run.
Bottas told media, “I just suddenly lost the rear, maybe it was some overheating. My bad.”
Ads for Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff, he said, “the lap had already been a messy one and it is always really difficult to get the right balance between the push and taking it easy.”
As for Verstappen, he is a strong challenger for Mercedes this year as the Dutch driver made a fine start of the ace with his best lap finishing at 1:40:259 which is two tenths of a second faster as compared to Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari.
