There is nothing better for the Spurs lately than the home and this is especially true since they have been struggling at the start of the season.
On the Friday night game between San Antonio Spurs VS Minnesota Timberwolves, Spurs were able to win the game by 124-98.
In this game, Spurs were able to manage their season-high 19 3-pointer shots.
Spurs were led by Bryn Forbes who scored 22 points.
This was not only the San Antonio Spurs’ seventh win in their last eight games; they also gained a seventh win against a team by holding them under 100 points. This is a massive change and improvement for the Spurs who opened the season by losing 3 out of 4 games and all of them by 30+ points.
San Antonio guard DeMar DeRozan said, we suffered from many difficulties in the start of the season, which is expected in this sport. We never lost hope and continued to pay at our best while improving. We now were able to make a comeback at home in December as we are trying to get our rhythm back at homestand. This is currently where we at.”
As for Minnesota Timberwolves, they have lost 11 straight games against the Spurs and overall, they have lost six out of 7 games lately.
Timberwolves were led by Andrew Wiggins who scored 15 points while Karl-Anthony Towns and Robert Covington both scored 13 points each for the team.
Spurs have lately been focusing on their dense and this has also been working out for them offensively.
On the 3-pointer shots, San Antonio Spurs completed 19 of 33 shots, which was a 53 percent from the field.
Marco Belinelli from Spurs scored 17 points and Davis Bertans added in his 15 points. Both these players from Spurs completed 10 of the total 199 3-pointers from Spurs’ side.
Derrick Rose, the point guard for the Timberwolves was absent from the second half of the game due to his sore left ankle. Rose in his 16 minutes gameplay on Friday night scored 4 points with his 2 rebounds and 1 assist. The presence of Rose in the team’s Sunday game against the Thunder’s is also in doubt with his sore ankle problem.
Rose talking about his sore ankle said, “It just sore, so sore. I will now take this pain as a case for me not listening to my body.”
Up next, Timberwolves will play against Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night while San Antonio Spurs will play against Houston Rockets on Saturday night.
