Before Raheem Sterling came off the bench to play for Manchester City in a game against Dinamo Zagreb of the Champions League, the club was headed for a draw of 0-0. However, Sterling made one goal on his play to give the Mac City a dominant win by 2-0 to give the club their 2nd straight win of the group stage game.
This win could have been all for naught at the Etihad Stadium if Sterling had not come and got a cross from Riyad Mahrez from a close range to score a goal in the 66th minute of the game.
Following the goal of Sterling, another substitute player of Man City, Fodne came to score a goal in the 90th minute on a pass from Sterling.
With this win, it seems that the champions of the English league are well headed into their way to the qualifiers of the Group C. they started the season’s group stage with a 3-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk 2 weeks ago. At the moment there are 3 points ahead of both Dinamo and Shakhtar.
Despite the win, the manager of Mac City Pep Guardiola had a frustrated look on his face., he even got a yellow card from the referee for coalmining about the decision of a referee during the 2nd half.
Foden said of Sterling’s fierce goal, “the game needed a change of tempo and Raheem brought that to the field well.”
Man City had nearly 19 chances to score goals but they lacked the edge as their main midfielder named Kevin De Bruyne was not playing due to his groin injury.
Talking about Dinamo, Guardiola said, “They defeated us very well one-on-one and were playing really aggressively. They had 10 players in the box and did not want to play.”
The noise on the Etihad Stadium was mostly coming from the little but a lively group of 1300 Dinamo fans. The fans seemed to have enjoyed the game despite their team losing.
