Steven Wright; Red Sox pitcher testing positive for PED, gets 80 games suspension

Steven Wright the veteran pitcher of the MLB team Boston Red Sox has received an 80 games suspension after he was found guilty of violating Major League Baseball’s drug policy.

The suspension was sentenced by MLB commissioner on Wednesday after the knuckleballer had been tested positive for a classified performance enchaining substance named “Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide 2 (GHRP-2)”.

A statement by MLB Players Association had been released on behalf of Wright who said that he is shocked to hear this as he has never intentionally ingested anything like a performance enchasing drug for any illegal purpose.

Wright, the right-hand player made 4 starts for the team with 16 relief appearances in 2018’s season. After a pitch in the Al Division series game, Wright aggravated a knee injury that had been causing trouble for him all year long.

For this problem, he also underwent an arthroscopic Knee surgery back in November and has not returned for spring training on the mound.

For the American League All-Star team in 2016 Wright, this is his second suspension of the career. In the start of last season, Wright already had served a 15-game suspension for violation of the MLB’s domestic violence policy.
