Fulfilling a promise made by the new head coach of Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bruce Arians, the Buccaneers have now become the first ever NFL franchise to have not one but 2 female coaches on their staff.
During a forum of the Super Bowl, Arians said that that he is going to hire a female assistant.
The news was confirmed by the franchise this Wednesday that they have hired Lori Locust as their assistant defensive line coach while Maral Javadifar as their assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Arians said, “I know how hard it can be to get that first opportunity to coach at the highest level of professional football. Sometimes, all you need is the right organization to offer up the opportunity. The Glazer family and our general manager, Jason Licht, were extremely supportive of my decision, and I know Maral and Lori will be great additions to my coaching staff.”
Locust has been the defensive line coach for the Alliance of American Football’s Birmingham Iron. As for Javadifar, she is taking this job as her first coughing role. She had been a sports physical therapist back in Seattle.
