Terrell Owens of the San Francisco 49ers has been selected to become the 28th inductee into the San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame.
The news was announced by the team on Wednesday night.
Terrell Owens, the wide receiver of the team played his first eight seasons of the career with 49ers from 1996 to 2003 where managed career stats of 592 passes for 8527 yards along with 81 TDs in his 121 games. He had also been selected four times in the Pro Bowl.
49ers CEO Jed York said, “Over the course of eight magnificent seasons, 49ers fans were able to have the opportunity to watch Terrell Owens become one of the best wide receivers in the entire NFL history. He was not only one of the most physically gifted players but also one of the most competitive ones in NFL history.”
Owens is only second in 49ers history in catches, receiving yards, relieving TDs, 100-yard games and 1000-yard seasons. The first one is Jerry Rice.
Owens is a statement said, “I am so humbled to have been mentioned in the same category as the likes of Montana, Steve Young, Jerry Rice and many others who had represented the 49ers over the years. I will forever be indebted to 49ers and will always be recognized as one of the greats of the 49ers.”
Owens was drafted by 49ers back in 1996 from Tennessee-Chattanooga. 45 years old Owens has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the Class of 2018.
He has played for four other NFL teams like Philadelphia, Dallas, Buffalo and Cincinnati for 7 seasons after his initial 8 seasons with 49ers.
