UFC 235; Jon Jones retains his Light-heavyweight title as he wins over Anthony Smith

On Saturday night’s UFC 235 fight between Jon Jones and Anthony Smith, Jon Jones managed to retain his light heavyweight title with an easy win over Smith.

Smith who is nicknamed as Lionheart, managed to live up to his reputation as he survived 5 of the most devastating and bloody rounds of five minutes each against an opponent like Jones. Jones, who is known to be one of the most famed fighters in the UFC, managed to gain a complete victory from all of the judges’ scorecards.

31 years old New York born fighter managed to gain control of the fight from the very start until it finished. Jones dominated the fight with his flashy kicks to maintain the distance as he wrestled it out with Smith on the fence.

The only time, Jones suffered a risk of having major points deduction was when he struck Smith with an illegal left knee strike in the fourth round over his head while his hand was on the ground.

If this hit had been called, the challenger would have won the fight by the disqualification of Jones if he Smith told the referee that he cannot draw out the fight any longer. However, he fought till the end as he dropped this chance of gaining a disqualification win. Smith said, “I wanted to win it by myself, I was not going to win it by staling.”
