UFC 240; Felicia Spencer makes Cris Cyborg work for her win

Although the former UFC champion Cris Cyborg has made a rebound for her previous KO defeat to complete her contract with a win against Felicia Spencer, Spencer still made her work hard and even bloodied her in the process.

Cyborg with a career record of 21-2 MMA and 6-1 UFC was pushed to go the distance and was able to win after a unanimous points decision against her opponent Spencer.

The women featherweight fight was the co-main event of the UFC 249 that was held at the Rogers Palace located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The final scorecards of the fight were all 30-27 in favor of Cris but it was a fight that was far more competitive than the judges could score it. The former champ was given more by Spencer than she could handle as she opened a cut with an elbow shot that continued to bleed throughout the fight.

After the fight Curs leaped up on the cage and then gave an interview to UFC;’s Hoe Rogan win which she said that she would love to have a rematch with Amanda Nunes, who is the first fighter to have knocked her out and claimed her featherweight title belt which she defended for a long time.

Cyborg said, “I am going to let my manager talk UFC but I just wanted this victory. I asked or a rematch after this fight.”

Cyborg seemed to be in control at the start of the fight against Spencer, a fighter who was billed and proved to be a strong one. Midway into the fight, Cris started to seem exhausted and being smothered by her opponent to the cage but still was not enough to put Cris on the mat.

Cyborg was able to find her second chance to gain the control of the fight as she landed he flurry of kicks and punches in the 3rd round to give Spencer her first loss of the professional career.

Cyborg said of Spencer, “Thanks to her, I got my first cut. I just wanted to come back to the ring and do my job.”
