Serena Williams will try once more to equal the record for winning the 24 Grand Slam titles after she was one of the 13 Grand Slam champions of Women’s singles who have gained their direct entry in the US Open.
The top 98 ranked men and the 102 ranked women have been entered directly in the tournament based on their world rankings. US Open is the final major tournament of tennis this year which will be played from August 24th to September 8th.
On Saturday of last week, Serena lost the final of Wimbledon against Simona Halep. As for her last US Open appearance in 2018, she lost the final against Japan’s Naomi Osaka.
Serena is only one title short of tying the record of 24 Grand Slam title wins which is held by Margaret Court.
In addition to Halep, Serena, and Osaka other players to enter the women’s singles main draw are Ashleigh Barty, Venus Williams, Stephen Sloane, Angelique Kerber, Petra Kvitova, Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki, Victoria Azarenka, Jelena Ostapenko and Garbine Muguruza.
