Gordon Hayward’s return in Utah was a cold one from the Utah fans. He was booed every time, especially when he touched the ball. Unfortunately, the Friday night game of Jazz vs. Celtics ended in Boston Celtics defeat by 123-115.
From Jazz’s side, Jon Ingles made his career high 27 points along with his seasons best 7 assists to help beat Celtics. This was Hayward’s first return to Salt Lake City since joining the Celtics.
In this first game with the Celtics, Hayward managed to add only 13 points and 7 assists in his 25 minutes gameplay. Hayward left Jazz back in 2016/2017 season to be a free agent and he later signed with Boson Celtics. Last season with Celtics, Hayward broke his left ankle in the opener.
Hayward was drafted by Utah Jazz back in 2010 as the ninth overall pick and he spent his 7 NBA seasons with them.
After the match, Hayward said to media, “I kind of expected that. They were booing me from the get-go, I know its part of the game.”
