Even with their first champion League final’s appearance in the last 23 years, Ajax still has some regrets about the event.
Ajax overpowered Tottenham during the start of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday. But still, the fans were frustrated that despite that overpowering start, they could only muster to get one goal against Tottenham in the first half by Donny van de Beek to win with a lead of 1-0.
The 22 years old Middlefield of Ajax said, “In the first 20 minutes of the game, we played really well. After that, it seemed that Tottenham was chasing something.”
As it happens to be, Tottenham was chasing something but the team riddled with injuries and many suspensions were not able to make much of a difference in the 2nd half to equalize the game.
Christian Erikson, the midfield of Tottenham said, “For the first 20 minutes of the game were just seeing the ball in their control. We even made them look a little better. They are a good team but tonight we gave them a feeling as if they can control things on the field.”
Tottenham who was playing In they’re first ever Champions League semi-finals in the last 57 years were, unfortunately, playing without their injured striker Harry Kane and their suspended player Son Heung-min. they also had to content in the second half without their star defender Jan Vertonghen who got injured.
Vertonghen suffered from a serious case of concussion after he tried to head butt a ball in the Ajax area but instead of a ball struck his face on the back of his teammate’s head. The teammate was Toby Alderweireld and the hit left him with a bloody nose due to a cut over it in the 32nd minutes of the game. He made a return back in the 38yth minute but was forced to forefeet from the game after lasting for no more than 40 seconds.
