Vargas VS Soto; Jessie Vargas stops Humberto Soto in sixth round

The Super-welterweight fight between Jessie Vargas and Humberto Soto held on Friday night ended with a stoppage victory for Vargas in the 6th round.

With winning this fight, the Californian is expected to move up from welterweight and set a 151lbs catchweight. During this fight, Vargas managed to overcome from an early uppercut as he produced an impressive performance to stop the Mexican in the 6th round for a win.

The opening round of the fight saw Soto employing some aggressive tactics as he unleashed a flurry of punches on Vargas. However, he was stopped in his track with a low blow from Vargas.

The 2nd round saw Vargas getting a cut over his left eye during the head clash between the fighters but he still managed to deal some damage to his opponent with his left hook shot.

Vargas, under the training of his coach Freddie Roach, shrugged off the extent of the injury as he continued delivering crunching body shots to his opponent in the 3rd both fighters equally traded a flurry of punches to each other but Soot managed to hold his ground.

Soto, despite having an age to cause a negative factor to him, made Vargas work hard in this fight as the 5th round saw them exchanging punches in the closing seconds.

However, the fight soon came to an end after Soot could not hold his ground in the 6th as he toppled on to the canvas after taking a left hook. He tried to get back up but was forced to go back to the canvas under a barrage of punches to his face from Vargas. Referee mercifully intervened to grant Vargas his stoppage victory.
