Women’s World Cup; US beats Netherlands by 2-0 to win their 4th World Cup title

After doing celebration after their very goal of the world cup matches, US team was able to back their swagger up on Sunday night with the world cup win.

On Sunday night, the Women’s World Cup final match played between the US and Netherlands was won by US Women team by 2-0.

The match was won by the US after Meagan Rapinoe converted her tiebreaking penalty kick during the second half of the game. Later a goal was also scored by Rose Lavelle to confirm US’s victory.

After winning the game, Rapinoe tuned toward the horde of reporters and said to them, “I have got a party to get to y’all.”

Rapinoe was able to get a penalty kick which she converted to a goal during the 61st minute after a video review showed that Stefanie van der Gragt committed a foul by hitting Alex Morgan on the shoulder with a kick as she was trying to complete a deflected pass in the penalty area.

Rapinoe who turned 34 years old two days ago was able to score her 6th goal of the World Cup. She has also become the eldest player to have scored a goal in the finals of Women’s World Cup.

With these achievements in this tournament, she has earned the Golden Boot for being the top scorer this year and also won the Golden Ball for being the top player as well.

Rapinoe said, “I feel like it is kind of iconic of everything that we had to get through and we still continue to go through. Yet we were able to put this amazing product on the pitch.”

As for the 2nd goal of the night which was also from team US, was scored by Lavelle during the 69th minute of the game, making to her 3rd international goal in this World Cup.

It seems that the team US will not have enough rest as they are going to go for a parade up the Canyon Of Heroes held in Manhattan. The parade is going to be held on Wednesday and team the US was invited by the mayor of New York named Bill de Blasio.
