In the 2019’s World Series of Poker’s main event held on Wednesday night, Hossein Ensan made it all the way to the end by beating nearly 8568 other players to win the first place and prize money of 10 million dollars.
The 55 years old poker player from Germany defeated in the match the second place Dario Sammartino who went home with 6 million dollars, in what was played fro 8 long hours and spanned for nearly 100 hands. Ultimately it was Hossein Ensan who won the game on the 10th day of the competition.
Hossein Ensan won by having a pair of kings on his final hand while Sammartino had put his chips all-in with nothing but a flush draw as well as straight draw.
With this Hossein, has become the third-ever poker player in the history of WSOP’s main event to have won the mega prize of 10 million dollars as the bracelet winner. The biggest prize was 12 million dollars which were won by Jamie Gold back in 2005 and the second one was Martin Jacobsen with shi 10 million dollars prize back in 2014. As for the field size, it was the second biggest in the history of WSOP.
Ensan also became the second oldest person to have the main event of the tournament with the first one being Noel Furlong who won the event at age 61 back in 1999.
Ensan said, “It is really unbelievable and I can’t really seem to understand this moment. After 10 days, one thing I can say now is that I am really excited. I must first go to sleep and then wake up and then maybe I will finally clam myself down with the fact that I have a bracelet now. This is the biggest prize money in my career and I am so happy for it. I thank all of my fans in both Germany and Iran and also my buddies there as well.”
No American player was able to reach the round three of the tournament.
