Stuttgart Open; top seeded Zverev beaten by Brown

The German qualifier named Dustin Brown was able to defeat the top-seeded player at the Stuttgart Open, Alexander Zverev by 6-4, 6-7 and 6-03 in their match to make it to the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Brown who was only playing his second tour-level match of the year was able to hit many spectacular winners to defeat the world ranked no. 5 Zverev.

With this win, Brown has secured himself his first win since 2017 over a top-10 opponent.

The world ranked no. 170 Brown is known for having defeated Rafael Nadal back at the 2015’s Wimbledon.

Brown will now face the Canadian player Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals match. Felix managed to move into the last 16 by defeating Giles Simon by 7-5 and 6-4.

In other matches of the day, there was another shocker when Matteo Berrettini defeated the 2nd seeded Karen Khachanov by 6-4 and 6-2.

Berrettini will now play against the American player Denis Kudla who advanced to the last 18 with a victory over Frenchman Gael Monfils by 7-5, 6-7 and 7-6.
