Australia thrash India in Healy’s final match

Alyssa Healy Ends International Career with Victory as Australia Beat India in Perth Test

Alyssa Healy concluded her remarkable international cricket career on a high note as Australia women’s national cricket team defeated India women’s national cricket team by 10 wickets in the one-off day-night Test match at the WACA Ground.

The victory was not only a fitting farewell for Healy but also secured Australia the multi-format series with a convincing 12-4 points margin. The match, played in Perth, marked the final international appearance of the experienced Australian captain, who has been one of the most influential figures in women’s cricket over the past decade.

Dominant finish seals Australian victory

Australia required just 25 runs to win in the fourth innings, a modest target after their bowlers dismissed India cheaply on the third day of the Test. Openers Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll quickly completed the chase.

The pair reached the target inside five overs, ensuring Australia claimed victory without losing a wicket. Their confident start meant the match ended quickly, giving the home crowd an opportunity to celebrate Healy’s final appearance in international cricket.

After the winning runs were scored, Healy was lifted onto the shoulders of her teammates in an emotional moment that marked the end of an outstanding career.

India’s innings collapses early on day three

India resumed their second innings on the third morning with a score of 105-6, already facing an uphill battle. The visitors needed a strong performance from their lower order to extend the match and build a competitive lead.

However, the Australian bowling attack proved too strong. Within the first hour of play, India’s innings came to an end as they were bowled out for 149.

Australia’s spin bowlers played a crucial role in finishing off the Indian lineup. Ashleigh Gardner and Alana King shared the final wickets, ensuring the match quickly swung in Australia’s favor.

Gardner broke a promising 50-run partnership between Pratika Rawal and Sneh Rana by bowling Rana for 30 runs.

Shortly afterward, King dismissed Kashvee Gautam for a duck, with Healy taking the catch. Gautam had faced only four deliveries before being sent back to the pavilion.

India continued to lose wickets quickly. Sayali Satghare was caught by Georgia Voll, while Rawal—who had played the most significant innings for India—eventually became the final wicket to fall.

Rawal top-scored for India with a determined 63 runs but was caught by Annabel Sutherland off Gardner’s bowling. Her dismissal ended India’s innings and left Australia with an easy target to chase.

Sutherland and Perry shine in Australia’s first innings

Australia had already taken control of the Test earlier thanks to an impressive performance with the bat. During their first innings, Annabel Sutherland played a crucial role by scoring a brilliant century.

Sutherland’s innings of 129 runs demonstrated her growing importance to the Australian team. She showed patience and skill against the Indian bowling attack, helping Australia build a strong total.

Another key contributor was experienced all-rounder Ellyse Perry, who scored 76 runs. Perry’s innings provided stability and helped Australia reach a commanding first-innings score of 329.

For India, Sayali Satghare was the most effective bowler, claiming four wickets for 50 runs.

Healy’s remarkable international career

The match carried special significance because it was the final international appearance for Alyssa Healy, one of the most accomplished players in women’s cricket history.

Although Healy usually plays as Australia’s wicketkeeper, the gloves in this Test were taken by Beth Mooney. This allowed Healy to focus solely on her role as captain and batter in her farewell match.

Over the course of her career, Healy played an incredible 299 international matches for Australia across all formats of the game.

She accumulated 7,333 runs during her international career and recorded 276 dismissals as a wicketkeeper. These achievements highlight her consistency and influence over many years at the highest level.

Healy also played a central role in many of Australia’s most memorable victories.

One of her greatest moments came during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final in 2022, where she scored a record-breaking 170 runs against England women’s national cricket team.

That remarkable innings remains the highest individual score ever recorded in a Women’s World Cup final.

A legacy of success

Throughout her career, Healy helped Australia dominate international women’s cricket. She was part of teams that won the Women’s World Cup twice and captured the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title on six occasions.

More recently, she captained Australia during the 2025 Ashes series, where they achieved a historic 16-0 clean sweep against England in the multi-format competition.

Her leadership, aggressive batting style, and sharp wicketkeeping skills made her one of the most respected players in the sport.

End of India’s long unbeaten run in Tests

The defeat in Perth was particularly significant for India because it ended their impressive run in Test cricket.

Before this match, India had won nine consecutive red-ball games. Their previous defeat in Test cricket had come against Australia nearly two decades earlier in 2006 in Adelaide.

Although India had enjoyed success earlier in the multi-format series—including a 2-1 victory in the T20 matches—the loss in the Test and a 3-0 defeat in the ODI series meant Australia ultimately dominated the overall competition.

Australia claim series triumph

With the victory in the one-off Test match, Australia secured the multi-format series by a score of 12-4.

The result reflected Australia’s strength across all formats and confirmed their status as one of the most powerful teams in women’s cricket.

For Alyssa Healy, the triumph provided the perfect conclusion to an outstanding career. Ending her international journey with both a team victory and a series win ensured that her final appearance will be remembered as a celebration of one of the sport’s greatest players.

As the Australian team moves forward into the next phase, Healy’s contributions to the game will remain an important part of cricket history.
