Joe Thornton of the San José Sharks is regarded by many as one of the greatest players in the entire history of the NHL as he was able to also pick up his career’s 1075th assists this Thursday night.
Joe Thornton also has a habit of getting into fights occasionally and this also includes the one fight where he lost a part of his beard.
However, the game he was playing against the Carolina Hurricanes might be the first one where he not only fought but also took down their goalie with a single punch to the face.
The goalie who was knocked out by Joe Thornton was Petr Mrazek who got upset after Thornton allegedly poked at the punch that he had covered in the crease.,
Petr Mrazek swung his ice stick at the Center of San Jose Sharks but missed and then he went on to challenge Joe Thornton by coming out of his crease.
Joe Thornton also responded with a fist and he did not miss it as it landed square on the mask of Petr Mrazek.

Petr Mrazek went down immediately right here and then and stayed don on the rice while a ruckus broke out behind the net of Hurricanes.
However, Petr Mrazek was then able to get up and play the rest of the game. Thornton received 4 minutes of penalty time while Petr Mrazek received 2 minutes but Carolina was still not able to take advantage of the power play.
