ICC is going to investigate the alleged corruption charges against Sri Lanka Cricket

The ICC (International Cricket Council) has announced that they are currently doing an investigation in Si Lanka against the alleged serious corruption charges.

England has recently begun its tour of Sri Lanka on October 10th. Now both England and their host Sri Lanka are going to be briefed by anti-corruption exerts over these few coming days.

ECB has revealed that they are going to fully cooperate with the anti-corruption unit of ICC. As of this moment, England’s one-day cricket team is already preparing for it upcoming match in Sri Lanka.

General Manager of ICC of the anti-corruption unit; Alex Marshall said to media that, “there is no relation of the alleged charges investigation with this upcoming Sri Lanka- England Series.

He said to media in a statement, “As the inquiries are still under process, anything more said is not appropriate. However, I can only confirm that on their request we have informed the Sri Lankan president, Prime Minister and Sports Minister about this case. We are receiving the full support of the competent authorities within the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The elections for SLC which were happening soon have been placed in pending.”

He further stated, “I would also like to clarify that these investigations have been underway for a long time and are in no way related to upcoming Sri Lanka – England Series. At the moment I would take this chance and will brief both teams to remain alert from the risk of corruptors.”

ECB officials told media that England’s cricket team head coach and captain always meet up with the ICC match referee and the anti-corruption unit before the time of start for any new series. This is done to clarify any underlying issues.
