Matt Murray; the goaltender for the Pittsburgh Penguins is now indefinitely out of the season after suffering from a concussion.
According to the Penguins coach Mike Sullivan, Murray suffered from this concussion during a practice match on Monday. Murray reported his potential symptoms to the training staff immediately. However, Sullivan has not revealed any specific nature of this incident that led to Murray’s injury.
For the 24 years old Murray, this is the third time in his NHL career that he has been diagnosed with a concussion. Prior to this he suffered an earlier concussion case back in Feb of 2018 and missed almost a whole month. His first concussion was back in the late 2015-16 season. At that time he collided heavily with Brayden Schenn of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Sullivan only said to media that team is currently focusing n Murray’s health and not the number of concussions he has previously suffered.
Sullivan said, ‘it is hard to draw any conclusion from this kind of stuff because everyone is different. Some payers get fine right after while others take a longer time.”
Murray who has won the pair of Stanley Cups with his team back in 2016 and 2017 was struggling with his form in the opening week of this season.
With Murray out of the picture, for now, the first to replace him will be Casey DeSmith. Penguins as a reserve have also called pout Tristan Jerry from the American Hockey League as well. Until Thursday, Penguins are off; they will host the Vegas Golden Knights for a game after Thursday.
