Pistons overcome Blake Griffin’s ejection to top Hawks by 125-122

Detroit Pistons were really disappointed to see their best player getting ejected even when the fault was not his.

Even with this, Pistons paid heed to their coach’s call as they fueled up their game for the playoff chase.

Thon Maker from Pistons side sank a tiebreaking 3-pointer with only 16.7 seconds to the game as the Pistons overcome Blake Griffin’s ejection to win over the Atlanta Hawks by 125-122 on Friday night.

Reggie Jackson from Pistons side scored his season-high 32 points while Andre Drummond scored 26 points and 21 rebounds. However, despite their efforts, Pistons still struggled after the third quarter ejection of Blake Griffin due to a technical foul.

Griffin said, “The tape pretty much speaks for itself. I shouldn’t have been back here in the locker room, but the guys did an unbelievable job.”

Griffin after his first technical foul scored a 3-pointer and yelled at Hawks bench which got him a technical foul with 4 minutes to the game. With this second technical foul, his ejection was automatic. Pistons coach Dwane Casey said that the foul was questionable and I have never seen that in my coaching years.

Hawks forward Vince Carter said that he was too far down the stretch when Griffin started yelling. He said, “I don’t know what he actually said but he was barking and it was directed at the coach.”

Griffin in this game scored 215 points which ended his 4-game streak with 25 or more points.

As for Atlanta Hawks, they were led by Trae Young who scored 30 points and 10 assists. Young and Vince Carter both missed their 3-pointer shots.

Up next, Detroit Pistons will play against Miami Heat on Saturday while Atlanta Hawks will play against the Phoenix Suns who are currently having their 16-game losing streak. Suns have only won 4 of their 31 games on road this season.
