Adonis Stevenson suffered severe ‘traumatic brain injury’ in his fight against Oleksandr Gvozdyk

Adonis Stevenson after being knocked out during his fight with opponent Oleksandr Gvozdyk suffered a severe ‘traumatic brain injury’. The news has been confirmed by his doctor.

41 years old boxer after being knocked out was stretchered out from the ring and rushed straight to the hospital. The fight took place on Saturday last week and Stevenson got knocked out in the 11th round in Quebec.

Dr. Alexis Turgeon; the specialist physician at Hopital de l’Enfant-Jesus said to media, “Mr. Stevenson underwent an extensive surgery from Saturday night to Sunday morning and has been later transferred to the Intensive Care Unit”.

He further revealed to media that, “he has suffered traumatic brain injury and is currently stable under the circumstances but overall his condition is critical. To comment on Stevenson’s long-term prognosis right now would be too early.”

Stevenson before losing his WBC Light heavyweight belt to Gvozdyk was the longest and oldest regarding boxing champion in the ring.

He won this belt back in 2013 from Chad Dawson and was fighting the 10th Defense fight for the belt. He was ahead on two judges’ scorecards and tied on the third judge’s scorecard before he got knocked out.
