On the Friday night boxing match of Andrade VS Akavov, Demetrius Andrade successfully defended his World Middleweight title against Artur Akavov. Soon after defeating Akavov, Demetrius also called out to Gennady Golovkin.
Andrade had here good rights but that’s when the referee Arthur Mercante Jr. and the Akavov’s tea stepped in, the crowd at the Madison Square Garden were bemused.
This was another stoppage win in Andrade’s unbeaten career. He wanted to send a message with Saul Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs unification match that he is also one of the 160 lbs stars.
Talking about this fight Demetrius Andrade said, “I was not trying to go and force anything. The jab was working nicely all night. If I just keep destroying them in the top 15, they will have nobody else but to say triple G, Canelo, Danny Jacobs, the great guys up there. That is all we are looking up to, just make great fighters. May the best man win.”
Demetrius Andrade aka the Boo Boo is known to have the quickest jab in the game and the Rhode Island slickster took control of the match from the opening bell.
Andrade unleashed a big right hand to open up his opponent’s defense and landed in another sneaky left cross and prove that the first half belong to the American.
Until seventh round, Andrade had the control of the match but in the eighth round he got barely hit by a ramming left jab of Akavov but after that Andrade again got the control of the match in the ninth round.
The champion was leading with points with three rounds left to the fight and crowd was hoping for the champion to close the fight with style. In the final round, Andrade landed three crisp shots but even he was not expecting the referee to jump in and stop the fight.
