Andy and Jamie Murray, brother duo advance in doubles division at the Citi Open

The Murray Brother duo of Andy and Jamie Murray has advanced into the doubles division of the Citi Open in Washington.

The Scottish doubles duo was able to beat the French pair of Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin by 6-4, 6-7 and 10-5. With this win, both brothers will now advance into the doubles quarterfinals. They made a rally in the last set to win the 4th match point.

Andy Murray, the former world rank no. 1 and his brother had paired up for the first time since 2016.

The duo had previously been the world rank no. 1 as well. The double divisions of the Citi Open this year features the top 10 world ranking doubles teams this year.

The brother duo will now next face the third-seeded doubles team of Michael Venus and Raven Klaasen next in the quarterfinals match.

As for the singles division, the top-seeded player of the tournament, Stefanos Tsitsipas was able to win against the wild card entry Tommy Paul by 6-3 and 7-5.

As for the 5th seeded John Isner, he defeated Hubert Hurkacz of France by 6-4 and 6-4.

In another high profile match of the day, the 8th seeded Milos Raonic won against Tim Smyczek, the American qualifier by 6-1 and 6-4.

As for the women’s singles, Sofia Kenin, the no. 3 seed of the event defeated the fellow American player Lauren Davis by 5-7, 6-3 and 6-4.

In the matches of the women’s singles, Jessica Pegula defeated Iga Swiatek by 5-7, 6-4, and 6-1.
