Andy Murray will be representing Great Britain for the finals of Davis Cup

Andy Murray of Great Britain has now officially been chosen to be the representative of Great Britain in the finals of the Davis Cup.

Murray, the winner of 3 grand slam tournaments won his first title last Sunday following his hip resurfacing injury comeback from January. He has not played in the Davis Cup since 2016.

Britain is set to play in the group stage against Kazakhstan and Netherlands of the revamped Davis Cup finals which will be held next month. The location of the Davis Cup finals in Madrid.

In other matchups of the Davis Cup finals, Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal might have a chance to have a rematch of their US Open final as they will both be representing Russia and Spain respectively. The champion of the 2018’s Davis Cup Croatia is also in the group stage.

As for the Serbian team, they will be represented by none other than the world no. 1 Novak Djokovic. Team Serbia will be facing opponents like France and Japan.

As for Kei Nishikori, he is missing from the finals for the team Japan. The world rank 8th, Nishikori could not attend the Davis Cup finals due to an arm injury he sustained during the US Open when he lost the 3rd round match against Alex de Minaur.

Nishikori wrote on his twitter feed, “So sad to miss the Davis Cup Finals.”

Team Germany will be led by world rank no. 41 Jan-Lennard Struff as the world rank no. 6 Alexander Zverev I absent due to playing a  series of the exhibition matches in South America and Mexico against Roger Federer.

As for the team US, they will be represented by world rank no. 31 Taylor Fritz alongside teammates; Jack Sock, Francis Tiafoe, Reilly Opelka, and San Querrey.

The new format of the Davis Cup will be seeing a total of 18 national teams competing against each other from 18th November to 24th November.
