ASB Classic in Auckland; Cameron Norrie reaches maiden ATP final

Cameron Norrie proved to the world on Friday that the future of the British tennis is still bright after he made it into the finals of his first ATP Final held at ASB in Auckland.

While the former British no.1  and world no. 1 Andy Murray plans on retiring from the sport after paling this year’s Wimbledon if his hip injury allows it that far, world no. 93 Cameron Norrie mange dot win against his German opponent Jan-Lennard Struff in three sets and reached the finals of his first ATP event.

23 years old who grew up in New Zealand, got defeated at the semi-finals of his last three Tours. However, he managed to win over his opponent by 7-5, 4-6 and 6-3 to set the final’s match against American opponent Tennys Sandgren on Saturday.

Norrie told media, “I was really very nervous in that last game. But I thank the crowd for getting me through this. It is so special. This is my first final and to do it so close at home just means a lot to me.”
