Novak Djokovic says he can relate to Andy Murray injury that has forced retirement plans

Novak Djokovic, the world no. 1 tennis player says that he can also relate to Andy Murray’s injury that has forced him to speed his retirement plans. Andy Murray who said that he would be retiring after the Wimbledon this summer, in another emotional conference said that he might not even get that far and would be forced to retire after Australian Open.

Murray revealed to Media, that he is being plagued by the hip pain that he has been suffering for the last 18 months and it is still troubling him.

The three times Grand Slam champion had earlier plans to play for next six months until the Wimbledon but on Friday’s conference he said, the Australian Open, which sin starting on Monday, will be his last tournament.

Djokovic missed the half o 2017 due to an elbow injury and had to undergo surgery for it in February of 2018 to cure the problem. The problem haunted him for two years, so he does understand the pain, the Murray is going through.

Djokovic said, “It is quite a shocker for me because he is the same age and same generation as me. It is really sad to see him going through this and that he has gone through with injuries in the last couple of years. As someone how has already gone through the same injury, I can relay empathies with him and also relate to what he is going through.”

Talking about his relationship with Murray, he said, “He is a friend of mine whom I grew up with since when we were 11 or 12 years old. We have been rivals who have played some exciting matches all over the world so it is really sad to know that he might be applying his last Australian Open but I do wish him well for the future.”
