Australian Open; Elina Svitolina to face Naomi Osaka in quarter-final

Elina Svitolina will now face the 2018’s US Open Champion Naomi Osaka for the mouth-watering Australian Open’s quarterfinals match after both players battled hard through their matches.

Elina Svitolina defeated Madison Keys by 6-2 1-6 6-1 as she reached the last eight of the tournament for the second time but she is yet to reach the maiden semifinals of a Grand Slam of her career. She needs to first defeat Osaka who defeated her Ukrainian opponent Anastasija Sevastova by 4-6 6-3 6-4.

This is the second time for Keys in her last six major tournaments that she has not managed to make it into the last eight.

As for Osaka, this was her first time as she has moved into the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

Osaka who is impressed by the win of Tsitsipas over Federer said, “I was watching all kinds of winnings last night and was really impressed as how Tsitsipas defeated Federer and I was like Woah. I then decided that I also wanted to play really well.”

Karolina Pliskova

Karolina Pliskova who has been under the radar this tournament, also made her presence known as she defeated Garbine Muguruza by 6-3 and 6-1.

Pliskova is also now set to face the winner of Simona Halep VS Serena Williams match.
