Rafael Nadal was ruthless on Monday morning’s first-round clash at the Australian Open as he showed no mercy to his opponent, James Duckworth.
Nadal managed to defeat the home hope Duckworth by 6-4, 6-3 and 7-5 easily that has now relived the fans about his performance and fitness ahead of the first major season.
2009 winner of the Australian Open showed no signs of the problem in this opener as many were hoping because of him pulling out of the Brisbane International due to a thigh strain.
He gained a hammering win over his Australian opponent to set a match against either Matthew Ebden or Jan-Lennard Struff next.
As for the match of ninth seed John Isner VS Reilly Opelka, Isner was shocked as he got defeated by 7-6, 7-6, 6-7 and 7-6 by his American opponent. Opelika, who is currently world rank 102, is now going to move into the second round of the Grand Slam for the first time in his career.
On the other hand, Wimbledon runner up, Kevin Anderson managed to defeat his French opponent Adrian Mannarino by 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, and 6-1. Kevin Anderson will now fight against the unseeded American player Frances Tiafoe who managed to defeat qualifier Prajnesh Gunneswaran by 7-6, 6-3, and 6-3 in his round match.
