After the qualifying match between Wales and Hungary, Gareth Bale of Wales danced and shouted along with his international teammates in front of a flag that read “Wales, Golf, Madrid, In That Order.”
The forward for Wales can now wait for a chance to play in another one of the major tournaments with Wales after he secured his national team a place for the European Championship 2002.
Still, given the manner, in which he celebrated, the future of Baler with Madrid does not seem so great.
Aaron Ramsey made 2 goals, first of which was set up for him by Bale’s cross as Wales won over Hungary by 2-0 in the winner-takes-all game held in Cardiff.
With this win, Wales were able to be finished in Group E for 2nd place from their previous 4th pace and are only behind group leader Croatia. As for Hungary, they are left with the hopes to make it to the European Championship 2020 by playing in the playoffs which will be held in March.
As for Slovakia who gained their 2-0 win over Azerbaijan will now also have the chance to play in the playoffs for a spot in Euro 2020.
For the Welsh team, this is the 2nd time in a row that they have made it into the European Championship. Back in 2016, Wales was able to make it all the way to the semifinal of European Championship which was the first time that they achieved such mark in a major tournament in the last 58 years. That time, they were coached by Chris Coleman but now they are under the leadership of Ryan Giggs; the great of Manchester United.
Under the coaching of Giggs, Wales might prove to be a threatening opponent for other teams in the European Championship 2020. The European Championship 2020 is expected to be held from June to July.
