Barcelona suffers its worst start of the Spanish League in over 25 years against Granada

Even after Lionel Messi made a comeback, it was still not enough for him to prevent the worst starting defeat for Barcelona at the Spanish League on Saturday night in over last 25 years.

Messi came to the field in the 2nd half for making his first appearance of the league following his suspension as Barcelona lost to the newly promoted Granada by 2-0.

Barcelona is currently at the 7th place in the league with its 7 points from its last 5 matches. It is the worst standing for the Barcelona since the campaign of 1994 to 1995 when the team had 5 points from its 5 matches.

Ernesto Valverde, the coach of Barcelona said, “Clearly this has not been a very good start of the season. There are still a lot of matches that need to be played in but one thing is obvious that we need to improve.”

The two goals for Granada were scored by Ramón Azeez and Álvaro Vadillo respectively in each half of the game which is currently at the top of the league with its 10 points after having their 3rd win of the season.

Granada is coming to the main division after spending two seasons in a row at 2nd division and has not been able to defeat Barcelona since 2014 in the Spanish League. Previously they had lost 6 matches in a row against Barcelona.
