The much-anticipated fight of Billy Joe Saunders against Demetrius Andrade is now officially off. The fight was canceled after Saunders was denied his boxing license from the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission.
In the event of this new revelation, Saunders will be stripped off from his WBO World Middleweight title which he has proudly held since his fight against Andy Lee back in December of 2015.
29 years old Saunders took a voluntary drug test which returned with ‘adverse analytical findings’. However, Saunders’s promoter Frank Warren said to media that the substance found is only a ‘common decongestant nasal spray’.
In competition tests, results are only considered on the day of the fight and as for them, Saunders has not been found in breach of any anti-doping regulations of BBB of C or UKAD.
Unfortunately for Saunders, he has been denied his boxing license by Massachusetts Commission that will cost him his title.
Paco Valcarcel; WBO President in a press conference last m0nth said that Saunders will be stripped off of his title if he could not go ahead in his fight on October 20th.
Andrade, after this news, is now looking forward to having a fight with the WBO’s world no. 2 Walter Kautondokwa for his title.
