Blazers beat Nuggets in 4OTs by 140-137 to take 2-1 lead

Rodney Hood checked back in the game on Friday night for the Blazers and proved to be a great addition into a game riddled with weary bodies.

As he struggled in the postseason last year, he was eager to make a great performance and finally, he got his chance on Friday night.

All he needed to do was to wait for the NBA’s postseason record-tying 4th OT.

Hood made a key 3-pointer shot with 18.6 seconds to the clock which let the Portland Trail Blazers win over Denver Nuggets by 140-137 in the second round semifinal series of the Western Conference.

Hood was the starter for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the last season when playoffs started but fell out in the final moments of the second round series of Toronto’s win over the team during the 2nd round. Later he was acquired by Blazers last season in a trade that happened in February.

Hood said, “I did not give up. I do not give up on myself. I just keep on playing and keep on working. I had no idea that I would end up in Portland in such a rough situation. When I looked around I saw my family and friends and a lot of sad faces; to be here is quite frankly every emotional.”

The 4 OT game was the only second ever quadruple postseason game I the history of NBA. The last one was played between Boston Celtics and Syracuse Nationals back in 1953.

CJ McCollum was leading the Trail Blazers for the night with his 41 points while Damian Lillard scored 28 points for the team.

Hood was the star in the last OT as he scored 7 points in it to hand over his team the win and their longest unbeaten playoff home win record.

As for Denver Nuggets, they were led by Nikola Jokic who scored his 3rd triple-double of the postseason with 33 points along with 18 rebounds and 14 assists. As for Jamal Murray, he scored 34 points for the Nuggets.

The Game 4 will be played in Denver on Sunday.
