Josh Gordon; the former Pro Bowl wide recover is going to be let go by Cleveland Browns on Monday because of struggling with substance abuse problems.
Browns previously announced that he would not play in the Sunday game after suffering from a hamstring injury.
Unfortunately for Josh, the General Manager of the franchise; Josh Dorsey announced his termination a few hours later with a statement, “this afternoon we have informed Josh Gordon and his associates that we are going to cut him loose from on Monday”.
The statement further read, “For Past years the team as heavily invested as well as fully supported Josh in both personal and professional manner as we wanted best for him. Unfortunately it is time where we think that it is best to part ways with each other and move on. We wish Josh well in future.”
No specific information was provided by any Cleveland source as to why Josh was released from team. However 27 years old Gordon ha thanked the city of Cleveland after this news in an Instagram story.
Gordon said, “This place is going to always feel like home to me. I am really blessed and honored to have a chance to grow and start a life with the most passionate and motivated group of individuals. It’s been one hell of a journey with you guys. I wish you nothing but the best for future.”
At the moment it is still unclear as to what will be the Gordon’s future in NFL. He was already part of the NFL’s Substance abuse program. If he fails one other test he is going t get more disciplinary action from NFL.
There is a possibility that Browns will trade Gordon before Monday so they can get something out of a player who has wasted his great potential. With Gordon being released without a trade; he will be a free agent and can sign anywhere.
