Clinical Lyon beats Strasbourg by 2-1 to end their run in the French league

Despite getting depleted from injuries and deprived of any clear game plan, Lyon still showed the efficiency for their game against Strasbourg in the French league on Saturday night to win by 2-1.

The act which was held on a cold night of Alsace, Lyon was suffering throughout the game and had only a few chances to make a difference. Jeff Reine-Adelaide, the midfielder for the Lyon made a winner only 15 minutes from the time Maxwel Cornet made an assist as the Lyon striker held the opening goal from Strasbourg.

The end result of this game was the 4-game winning streak for Strasbourg at their home stadium to be snapped and also allowed for Lyon to be at the 6th place in the French League rankings. They are only 11 points behind the top-ranked Paris Saint Germain in French League.

Rudi Garcia, the coach for Lyon already had too many injuries on his hand but then he lost the key defender of the team Leo Dubois during the 83rd minute of this game following a knee injury.

He was forced to reshuffle his team’s lineup and decided to add in Maxence Caqueret, a midfielder for Lyon. This was Maxence Caqueret’s first start for the regular replacement Thiago Mendes who is also one of the 3 players who were missing due to injuries. The other two players missing from the match were Houssem Aouar and Memphis Depay.

These 3 players were also absent from the Lyon VS Zenit Saint Petersburg match for the Champions League that ended with 2-0 defeat for Lyon.

As for the other matches of the French league, Angers, the third-ranked in the league, in a surprising result lost to Nice by 3-1. As for Nimes, they were held to 1-1 draw against Metz. Anointer match of the French Leagues as played between Bordeaux and Reims that ended in 1-1 draw as well.
