Conley, Gasol help Grizzlies top Knicks to win by 96-84

When Marc Gasol was conducting his postgame interviews, his cell phone buzzed with a call from his agent. He declined to answer saying, “If its call for a trade, then it can wait. I am not in the mood right now. I still want to enjoy this.”

This was special for him because his team looked like the Memphis Grizzlies of the past.

Mike Conley scored 25 points while Conley scored 24 points to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to snap their nine-game skid with 96-84 against the New York Knicks on Sunday night.

Conley said, “This shows that we still have that spark in us, that core grit-grind mentality regardless of how we are playing.”

Conley, in addition to his 24 points, also managed to have 8 rebounds and 7 assists while Gasol chipped in his 9 rebounds.

Gasol said, “When we play together, we know things that we can do.”

As for the Grizzlies’ bench, Justin Holiday scored 19 points while Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 16 points in the team’s first win since December 23rd against the Los Angeles Lakers.

New York Knicks

As for the New York Knicks, they were led by Kevin Knox who scored 17 points while DeAndre Jordan scored 12 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double in team’s loss.  This was 13th overall loss for the Knicks and their 14th in a row at the Madison Square Garden.

Dennis Smith Jr

Dennis Smith Jr. of the Knicks, who started for the team alongside Jordan, scored 8 points and 6 assists.

Memphis Grizzlies

Up next, Memphis Grizzlies will host a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday while New York Knicks will host a game against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.
