Irving led Celtics to outlast Thunder in 134-129 thriller

After the eight days, when Boston Celtics slipped a win against the Golden State Warriors, they were able to finish the job against another strong Western Conference team; the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Kyrie Irving scored 30 points with 11 assists as they came over the OKC Thunder and their stars Paul George and Russell Westbrook to win the game by 134-129 on Sunday night in a thriller contest. With this win, Celtics were able to snap Thunder’s seven-game winning streak.

Boston

Boston who had won four straight games before they lost against the Warriors by 115-111 on Jan 26 have won 9 of their last 10 games overall.

Celtics bench

As for the Celtics bench, Marcus Morris scored 19 points, Marcus Smart scored 18 points with 7 assists while Daniel Theis added in his 14 points for the team.

OKC Thunder

As for the OKC Thunder, they were led by Paul George who scored 37 points while Russell Westbrook managed to complete his sixth straight triple-double and the 19th of the season with his 22 points, 16 assists, and 12 rebounds.

George

George said, “We just played against a good team. I think that they made some big shots and made some big plays. We have to live with that.”

As for OKC Thunder’s bench; Steven Adams and Dennis Schroeder both scored 16 points while Jerami Grant scored 15 points for the Thunder.

LA Lakers

Since Jan 17 when OKC Thunder suffered their first defeat against the LA Lakers this was their first defeat.

Up next, OKC Thunder will host a game against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday while Boston Celtics will first play against Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday before hosting a game against the LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
