Wayne Rooney of DC United proved to be the man of the match as he made two goals of the team against Montreal Impact. With his and team’s collective performance, DC United is much closer to the sixth and final spot of the MLS playoffs. DC United won by 5-0 against Montreal Impact.
Ben Olsen made a side goal in the 17 minute through Luciano Acosta’s well placed effort in the bottom corner.
The former Arsenal defender; Bacary Sagna made an instant response on behalf of Montreal Impact after just four minutes but DC United was able to take control of the match in the second half.
It was not long when Rooney was able to cut indie from his right foot and made an excellent finish from his bottom corner.
Rooney then switched from being scorer to provider after he allowed Paul Arriola to tap in from close range to make the score 3-0.
DC United w able to get the fourth goal by Arriola and soon Rooney wrapped the whole match by his second and his team’s fifth goal with a lobbed finish.
This victory now allows DC United to be only two points behind Montreal who is currently in sixth place of the MLS playoff rankings with two games in hand.
