Germany is to host the Euro 2024 after it in the WEFA vote against Turkey

Germany is set to host the 20214 European Championship after it won the WEFA voting against Turkey.

After a long battle of voting, German Football Association is successful in its bid to host the 2024 European Championship. This is the major international tournament that Germany is going to host for the first time since 2006’s World Cup.

German football team won the tournament three times back in 1972, 1980 and 1996 along with the last continental competition held in West Germany back in 1988.

On the other Turkey was missed out to host the Euro tournament for the third time. Turkey lost the hosting back in 2008, 2012 and 216. Last time it lost to France only by one vote.

Euro 2020 is set to take place across 12 venues in Europe. The semi finals and final of 2020 will be held at Wembley Stadium along with three group games and the last 16 tie.

Germany was able to gain a more favorable evaluation report than its rival Turkey for the Euro 2024 bid last week.

The evaluation report of the UEFA is published on their website with 40 pages of assessment with 12 key areas for the winning bid. The key areas of assessment report include points like quality of stadiums, political landscape and transporting infrastructure.

Germany’s proposal was able to meet with very high quality or even exceed the quality criteria for each of the UEFA’s expectations.

In contrast to their rival, Turkey had a bit of mixed reviews while having the failure to include a tournament specific commitment or human rights as a matter of concern.
