De Minaur victorious in Zhuhai final, while Carreno Busta becomes the champion at Chengdu Open

In the epic finale of the Zhuhai Championships between Alex De Minaur and Adrian Mannarino, De Minaur was able to win his 3rd title of the season by defeating Mannarino by 7-6 and 6-4.

Earlier in the tournament, De Minaur was able to move pat Andy Murray following his win against the 3-time Grand Slam champion Borna Coric as well as the world rank no. 10 Roberto Agut Bautista.

With the Australian winning his 3rd title for the 2019 season, his ranking improves to be at 25th. He earlier won the finals at Sydney and Atlanta.

As for Mannarino’s his unfortunate losing streak at the finals continues. He had made an appearance at 8 finals of the ATP Tour with him only winning 1 title.

De Minaur talking about his win said, “The battle was completely different today. The results could have gone either way. This was one hell of a week and was really tough. But I had out a lot of effort with my team.”

Somewhere else, in the finals of Chengdu Open between Pablo Carreno Busta and Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan, it was Carreno Busta who came on top as he defeated the Kazakh by 6-7, 6-4 and 7-6 to lift the trophy. This was the first title win for Carreno Busta since his last win in May of 2017.

Busta, the Spanish player, had to suffer a total of 31 aces from his opponent but he was still able to overcome the big-serving Bublik to win his career’s 4th title.

Carreno Busta said at the award ceremony, “I just keep on trying to work hard because I am fully aware that when you work hard and put in as much effort as you can then the prize normally goes to you.”

He further stated, “Now I am standing here with my 4th ATP Tour trophy and this sit he reason that I keep on fighting and play this sport.”
