James Harden did his best to bring the Houston Rockets from a major deficit on Wednesday night’s game during the 4th quarter. He even got them to the OT but even his 57 points were not enough to get his team a win. All of this happened because of a last-second free throw.
Mike Conley led the Memphis Grizzlies with his 35 points while Jonas Valanciunas scored his own career-best 33 points to lead the team’s win over Houston Rockets by 126-125 on Wednesday night.
Harden said, “we placed ourselves in a hole and tried to get up from that. However, it was too late by then. We were down by 17 points so I had to do something.”
Rockets were 115 by the end of the 4th quarter and Harden led the game in OT and scored all of the 10 points in OT. Both teams were still tied at 125 when Valanciunas got a penalty with 0.1 seconds to the clock. The clock ran out after he made two free throws but missed the second one.
Other players from Rockets side like Chris Paul scored 18 points with 7 assists while Capela added in his 14 points with 10 rebounds. This was Rockets second loss in their last 14 games.
Conley said, “It got really crazy there for a little bit but it was a fun game. It was a type of game that you want to be part of. Everybody gets big plays and big opportunities. The way the game ended was wild. In the end, I am just happy that our team got away with a win.”
Harden who scored 57 points fell only 4 points shy of making his career-best which he scored against New York Knicks back on January 23rd.
Up next, Rockets will host a game against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday while Memphis Grizzlies will play against the Orlando Magic on Friday night.
