On Monday night, OKC Thunder were playing without their star guard, Russell Westbrook and Miami Heat took advantage of that to improve themselves in the playoff rankings.
Goren Dragic scored 26 points with 11 assists while Dwayne Wade added in his 25 points to lead the Miami Heat’s win over the OKC Thunder by 116-107 on Monday night.
Russell Westbrook was not playing in this game due to his suspension.
18 points along with 9 rebounds were added in by Miami’s Kelly Olynyk as the Heat move one place up in the Eastern Conference rankings. With this win, Heat has also snapped their 6-game losing streak against OKC Thunder. As for OKC thunder, with this defeat, they have now lost last 13 games and have since then fallen to 6th place in the Western Conference.
Wade who played 33 minutes in the game said, “We put on our shoes and our trackpads and were ready to play a tough game that had a playoff-like feeling to it.”
As for OKC Thunder, they were led by Pal George who scored 31 points along with 9 rebounds while Jerami Grant scored 27 points with 10 rebounds. In place of Westbrook, Dennis Schroder started off the game from Thunder’s side and scored 20 points while Steve Adams managed to score 10 points with 12 rebounds but was fouled out of the game.
Westbrook with his NBA leading 16th technical foul on Saturday night’s game against Golden State Warriors was serving an automatic suspension during a game which was crucial for his team.
Justise Winslow was also missing this game 2nd time in a row after having his right thigh bruised on Friday.
As for Westbrook, he could receive one more game suspension if he has two technical fouls in the rest of the regular NBA season.
Up next, Miami Heat will play against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday while OKC thunder will host a game against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.
