Following injury Nadal at Paris Masters while Djokovic reaches the final

Rafael Nadal is once more blighted by an injury this season and this time it was during his semifinal match on Saturday at the Paris Masters. With Nadal getting out of the tournament, the current world rank no., 1 Novak Djokovic will now be moving into the final where he will bid to win his 5th Paris Masters title playing against Dennis Shapovalov.

Fans were heavily disappointed following the retiring Nadal as they were hoping to see the 55th career match against the 2 staunchest rivals of the tennis history.

There hopes to see this match came to an end when they learned that Nadal had to withdraw from his scheduled semifinal match against Shapovalov following an abdominal injury.

This was the same injury that had forced Rafa to pull out of last year’s tournament at Bercy Arena to end his season. Nadal said of his injury, “I went through this same pain last year and this is why doctors are recommending me not to play. I need to take this decision.”

According to Rafa, he felt the injury before his semifinals of Paris Masters in the morning as a flare-up during his practice. The scan revealed there to be a small strain but Nadal returned to practice but the pain got intense. He then decided that it was not worth taking the risk.

He said, “I hope that I will be ready for London and that is my next big goal. I will do all that is possible to recover.”

As for Djokovic, he made it to the finals after winning the semifinals of Paris Masters against Grigor Dimitrov by 7-6 and 6-4.

He is now aiming for his career’ 77th title win and 34th of his Master title. Against Shapovalov, he holds a career record of 3-0. As for Shapovalov, he is playing for the 2nd time in the final of a tournament and the first final of a Masters’ tournament.
