The Saturday night title defense fight for the WBA Super Featherweight belt between the holder of the belt Gervonta Davis and the challenger Ricardo Nunez ended with a 2nd rounds stoppage victory for Davis. This was Davis’s first fight that he had in his hometown since the last 6 years.
Davis with a career record of 22-0 with 21 Kos wins invited in Nunez tactfully in the 2nd round and then hit him with a left hook to send the Panamanian fighter on ropes and the crowd of 14686 people at the Royal Farms Arena to stand up on their feet in excitement.
Davis closed in and a few moments alter Harvey Dock, the referee stopped their fight at the time mark of 1:27 seconds remaining.
The 130 pounds weighing fighter came to this fight as a favorite following his 6th title victory in a row against the WBA and IBF title holders.
After gaining this victory against a mandatory challenger Nunez, Davis has now become able to be a pit in big fights like other fellow titleholders namely Tevin Farmer and Garry Russell Jr.
After this fight, Davis said that he now wants to fight with Teven Farmer to unify the 130 pounds class IBF and WBA titles.
