While there is no trophy for a victory over a slumping team like Washington Wizards, for Detroit Pistons, it felt like a big deal.
After losing nine of their last 11 games Pistons were able to finally win against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night by 106-95.
Pistons coach Dwayne Casey said, “That game was pretty close to a must win and that was what we needed for our morale and righting the ship. We came out with more focus and energy in the third quarter and this clearly points out that we were not fighting from behind down the stretch line”.
Wizards who were trailing for the most part of the first half by 22 points close the gap with 3 points remaining in the fourth quarter.
Blake Griffin from the Pistons side led the team with his 23 points and 9 rebounds while Andre Drummond scored 16 points and 11 rebounds which included his 10th straight double-double.
This was the eighth loss for the Wizards in their last 10 games and as for being on the road, they stand at 4-16. Wizards were led by Wall who scored 21 points with 8 assists and 7 rebounds while Beal scored 21 points.
Drummond, who is known as the second worst free-shooter in the NBA history, hit two free shots with 2:32 minutes left to the game to give Pistons a lead by 100-93.
