Blake Griffin who was visiting the Staples Center for the first time against his old team, kept his emotions checked on Saturday night.
However, he scored 44 points against his old team that led to Detroit Pistons win by 109-104 over the Los Angeles Clippers.
As Griffin was walking hallway to the Pistons locker room, he said to media, “the best thing is to be a part of something bigger and that is what it was tonight. I do not look at what I did.”
Griffin, during the introductions, received standing ovation from the crowd and also a video was played in his tribute from the team at that first drafted him overall back in 2009.
He said, “There was a lot of hype coming to his game and now I am glad that it’s over. The next time I come here, it won’t be this much crazy.”
Griffin said thank you to his former team and the crowd for their praise and tribute by raising his hands together in unison for a thank you gesture but without a smile. He was clearly there to beat his former team that traded him last January after he signed 171 million dollars, five years extension contract.
As for Drummond Green of Pistons, he scored 20 points and 21 rebounds while Bullock finished the night with his 17 points.
Clippers were led by Gallinari who scored 23 points while Lou Williams added in his 22 points with Harrell scoring 21 points and 9 rebounds.
Up next, Detroit Pistons will play a game against Utah Jazz on Monday night for their final 4-game western swing. As for the LA Clippers, they will host a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night.
