In the Indian Wells tournament on Sunday, British No. 1 Kyle Edmund managed to cruise into the third round after defeating his opponent Nicolas Jarry in mere 52 minutes.
Edmund, who had earlier warmed up for the event with his win at the Indian Wells Challenger and made a successful comeback from his knee injury, literally bullied his Chilean opponent to win the match by 6-2 and 6-0.
However, the day was not good for the Briton Johanna Konta who got demolished by Kiki Bertens after losing the match by 6-7 and 4-6.
Edmund, who last got his win at the ATP Toru back in October after defeating Diego Schwartzman in Vienna, demolished Jarry with an oppressive performance. In his match against Jarry who is ranked 63 places below him in the world ranking at 86, Edmund shot 6 aces and won 80% of the points on first serve.
Up next, he will be playing either against Italian player Fabio Fognini or the Moldavian player Radu Albot on Tuesday for the round three’s match.
