Lewis Hamilton believes to have found the ‘magic’ touch that allows him to get the best of Ferrari drivers and also cope up under the pressure of a super crazed intense championship battle.
Hamilton admitted that he was at first feeling pressured as he was lined behind both Vettle and Raikkonen at the Italian GP Grid. The grid is in front of their home fans of Monza which clearly adored their star drivers. However soon he returned back to the race with one of his best drives of the season that could result in his glorious victory.
Hamilton is currently 30 points ahead of Vettle for the title race. Psychology is going to be the determining factor for the rest of season. Gaining a splendid victory over Ferrari at the Monza has put Hamilton in high spirits and he even took the jeering boos of Tifosi while standing on the podium with smiles.
The Mercedes driver told reporters that, “while heading for this ace I was not feeling ease at all. I was thinking to myself that I have two Ferraris ahead of me and how do I get past them. What could I do to not lose seven points today? The pressure was too high. You will never have an idea for gaining the mindset that I have today. To be consistent in not making any mistakes and to continue delivering my best and more; It takes everything you got and then more.”
Although Vettle has blamed Hamilton for his crash in the last race but Hamilton refrained from delivering any criticism to his rival.
He only added this, “heat is there and intensity is there as well. No one is able to avoid it; not me not him.”
He ended it with saying “it really has been an incredible day”.
