Nikola Jokic who is known to be generally unselfish and fundamentally sound did what the Denver Nuggets coach Mike Malone asked him to do to keep the game in the balance.
Jokic finished for the night with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists for his eighth triple-double of the season. He also blocked two shots to lead the Nuggets for their win by 105-99 over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night.
Malone said, “Everybody knows where the ball is going and Nikola Jokic is out closer. This is what you want from your franchise player, your All-Star, your MVP; whatever you want to call him, just give him the ball and let him make the plays. He wants it. He has the confidence to make the plays and he has been delivering it this season well and that is the best thing about him.”
Malik Beasley scored 22 points while Monte Morris scored 20 points to help lead the Denver Nugget’s fourth straight win as they are currently the Northwest Division leaders.
Kenrich Williams shot nine 3-pointers out of which five landed as he finished for the Pelicans with his career high 21 points. For the second time in a row, Pelicans were playing without their usual starters and top reserves. They only had Jrue Holiday for starter who scored 22 points.
Up next, Denver Nuggets will host a game against the Houston Rockets on Friday night while New Orleans Pelicans will host a game against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night.
